Karawane is a Dutch indie band from the town of Groningen, The Netherlands, fronted by Anne Caesar van Wieren, formerly the frontman of LPG. Karawane: is church melodies, improvisation, Indian ragas, whisper-soft tunes, glockenspiel, esoteric flute solos - and what have you. Van Wieren started working on Karawane's début album after the demise of LPG in late 2012. The recording took three years, ProTools, a laptop and two microphones. The song Van Wieren recorded were mostly about saying goodbye: goodbye to his religious background, for example. Karawane was named after Dadaïst poet Hugo Ball's most famous 'sound poem'. To Van Wieren the poem symbolizes the type of freedom he also aims for in music. Karawane's self-titled début album was released on 06 November 2015 on Excelsior Recordings. .
